DevTools failed to parse SourceMap

Postby baba834 » Wed Mar 04, 2020 7:30 pm

Lastpass Google Chrome extension is causing conflicts with websites using .map files for minification. The error appears as something like:
Code: Select All Code
DevTools failed to parse SourceMap: chrome-extension://cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdcddddilifddb/include.preload.js.map

This has been reported in several forums, and is really a headache for my local development server.

for example, error on reddit:

stack overflow
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/60302529/devtools-failed-to-parse-sourcemap-chrome-extension

and elsewhere:

please fix

Seconded. Having the same issue:

DevTools failed to parse SourceMap: chrome-extension://<hash>/sourcemaps/onloadwff.js.map

Yes it is also causing an error when hitting enter on form submit. :(

This is not the best option and it's not a fix but it will help developers who don't want to see the failed parse sourcemaps from chrome extensions.

It has been 5 years and the LastPass devs still haven't fixed this. I'm using Chrome v80 with the very latest version of the extension.

All they have to do is remove the sourcemap comment from the bundled code. But they can't be bothered.

I suspect our only chance is to shame the company publicly, and I encourage folks to do precisely that.

It looks like this was reported just over one month ago. The original poster joined 5 years ago.
