LastPass Mac OS X desktop assumes/requires Safari(?)

Postby rajesh504 » Mon Sep 30, 2019 7:10 pm

Hello,

I use chrome on Mac OS X and generally use lastpass using the chrome browser extension.

I tried to install and use the lastpass desktop app for mac os x. However, when I try to launch a new site, it asks that I enable the safari extension.
The specific error I get is: "The LastPass Safari extension does not appear to be enabled. Please click below to enable."

Similarly, notifications seems to require Safari's toolbar (as expressed in "Preferences").

Does lastpass not know how to use the configured system default browser rather than hard-coding safari? Is there someway to change this behavior?

Thanks,

++Rajesh

Default Browser Mac

Postby shaynee162 » Fri Oct 04, 2019 12:32 pm

My default browser is set to Chrome but LastPass continues to launch Safari. Am I missing some preference that's not obvious? Is there anyone out there than has the same issue?

Default Browser and Quick Search

Postby shaynee162 » Wed Oct 30, 2019 1:47 pm

Why doesn't LastPass see that my default browser is set to Chrome NOT Safari. WHY can't we change that?? Am I missing a setting?

Also, my quick search doesn't work any longer....is this a known bug? Anyone have a work around?

I am on Mac OS 10.14.6 (18G103)

Does anyone from lastpass monitor these boards?

So I've found 7 posts in multiple forums on roughly the same topic of LastPass respecting the default browser settings on a Mac rather than launching links in Safari:

Even if the answer is "no, sorry - there's no way to do that", it would be better than silence. Having a forum where customers can ask questions and then not answering those questions only serves to piss people off and say you really don't care. Is that the case?
