Bank Account field does not match new German standard

Postby auslaender » Mon May 08, 2017 5:39 am

Hi,

The forms assistant has a place for bank information. There, there are three possible fields:

Name der Bank ("Name of the Bank")
Kontonummer ("Account Number")
Bankleitzahl ("Bank Code")

The "Account Number" and "Bank Code" fields are obsolete. Germany no longer uses two codes to identify a bank account. Only the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is used. This change happened about a year ago.

For the German localization, The "Bank Code" field should be removed, and the "Account Number" field should be translated as IBAN

More information about the IBAN can be found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Bank_Account_Number
More information about the change to IBAN in Germany can be found here https://www.thelocal.de/20160125/psa-germany-is-dropping-old-style-bank-details

Examples
Amazon.de uses the following for the IBAN input field:
Code: Select All Code
<input name="addDebitAccountNumber.DE" size="40" maxlength="40" autocomplete="off" type="text">

Paypal uses:
Code: Select All Code
<input id="bank_acct_iban_number" autocomplete="off" size="40" class="uppercase" name="bank_acct_iban_number" value="" style="background-image: url(url removed for brevity); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: scroll; background-size: 16px 18px; background-position: 98% 50%; cursor: auto;" type="text">
