This is still an issue. Pasting the full ASCII-armor version of the private key results in carriage returns being converted to spaces. The SSH public key field can stay a single line text field, as it really is only a single line. The private key however should be multi-line: http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4716.txt .

I can't believe this is not yet fixed after 2 years. Are developers even here?

Copy Passphrase on SSH Key Secure Note

Postby pkr » Wed Jun 24, 2015 12:27 am

On Site and Server Secure Note entries I can "Copy password", which in a great feature.

I would like the same feature for the Passphrase in SSH Key Secure Notes.

Right now I can only Edit a SSH Key Secure Note and copy it manually. This is both tedious and leave the passphrase exposed on the screen and in the clipboard.

PKR

Ditto this. Why isn't this fixed? This shouldn't be difficult to accomplish. As it stands, the SSH Keys note isn't usable, which is a shame as it's a pretty good way to record key information otherwise.

Actually I will note that the "Copy key" button does copy the key into the clipboard with the correct whitespace, so it's not unusable. Still feels a little weird though.

Doesn't work for me. Newlines / CRs are converted to spaces either upon pasting into the "Private Key" field or after clicking "Copy Key".

I'm using Chrome on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Still broken. The input box for SSH public / private keys is a one-line text field. Default SSH keys are multiple-line blocks of text that get saved as a single line in Lastpass.

A colleague tried to copy the key from there, got a one-line string (\n -> space). His tool complained that the key was invalid. He did a replace (space -> \n), everything worked.

Please fix this: make the public / private key fields multi-line textboxes.

I just added a patch to lastpass-cli to correct the whitespace damage on the client-side; hopefully that is useful to some in this thread.

Same here still.

This seems like a significant oversight on whomever implemented the sshkey feature to not realize that newline preservation is important.

You can at least work around the problem by attaching the files directly to the ssh key note instead of actually using the lastpass fields.
