transfer, expunge or archive

Postby usamartinez » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:29 pm

Hi:
I have noticed that I have many saved passwords, notes and lo-gins that I no longer use or have not used in a long time, however, I do not know when I am going to needed them again if ever, so I do not want to completely delete them.
I have created a group called Archives but the group is also getting big.

What would be the easiest way to archive this information in another profile called archives.
Is there such a feature? if not shouldn't there be one or something similar.
Thank you
Mario

I too you like to see an archive location within LastPass.

However, in its absence, you could just print out those "archived" sites and stored them someplace safe, then remove them from LastPass.

Yes, not the best solution, but it does get them out of the way in LP.

I also would like to do this. The only way I can think of is if you are using Identities then you could create a new one and copy those old passwords into that. If you are not using Identities (or even if you are) then you could create a new LastPass account and move them into that account. You'll then have two accounts, your main account and the other one used for archived credentials.

This will help de-clutter the view in the vault but if you have multiple credentials for the same website and you're trying to archive some of those credentials then they'll still all come up as login options when you visit the website.

Archive old entries

Postby dotancohen » Fri May 29, 2015 7:29 am

For some popular websites, such as Gmail, I have a few tens of login informations that I'll _likely_ not need in the near future, but I should hold on to. For instance, old client logins, or sockpuppet accounts.

It would be nice if Lastpass were to support "archiving" old login information _per login_. We can currently create a group Archive to put in different sites, i.e. Gmail, but that does not help when I intend to log into my personal Gmail account and have to wade through 42 Gmail logins. With the Archive feature I could archive all the old accounts such that when I go to log into Gmail only my own account and the wife's account show up, but if a client from 2006 calls and needs me to log into his Gmail account I could still access that information.

Currently, I am considering putting the old information into an encrypted tarball for when it is necessary, however I find that to be an horrible solution for quite a few reasons.

I would love to have that feature. There are some entries that we want to keep around just in case but don't care to see them on a day-to-day basis. Just need a way to search for them and bring them out of Archive if the time comes.

I would also like to have this feature. There are times you don't want to delete entries but also don't need to see them on a day-to-day basis. Just need a way to search for them and pull them out of Archive if need be.

Here is another user looking for an 'archive' feature:

Just search the page for the word 'archive', it appears in the comments.

You can use Identities as an archive. I set up two identities: one called Live and one called Archive. While browsing, just stay logged into Active.

The method of moving credentials around between them is clunky; you have to use the vault interface to add or remove a site from each identity individually. But I don't mind because my logins don't get archived often, and once they do then they tend to stay there.
