Shared Folder/Family Plan vs Enterprise

Postby efaden » Fri Mar 09, 2012 7:40 am

Hey,

So I share a bunch of website logins with my wife and other family members. It would be nice if there was a family plan where you could use the folder sharing features from enterprise with multiple different logins in a single "family" account. Sort of like a "Mini" enterprise account at a cheaper rate ($24/yr for 5 accounts or something). I was considering purchasing premium subscriptions for all of the members, but it still doesn't solve that problem. The only existing options would be to share each bookmark individually... or to have multiple identities under a single LastPass account.

Has there been any thought about implementing something like this? I too would love to see a family plan. You could make a basic family plan say up to 5 users for a set price. Than if additional users are needed (some families are bigger than 2 parents and 3 kids) there could be a small fee to add to this. There are some feature like the shared folders that I would love to use but can't justify paying for an "Enterprise" account.

I, too, would like to see a convenient and reasonably economical family plan.

This would be a great addition, I too share a lot of logins within my family.
Another option would be to allow folder sharing if both users are premium members. I would purchase additional premium memberships for my family if this was available.

Have there been any replies from LastPass to any of these requests?

I emailed them directly about it when I started the thread. They basically told me to but multiple enterprise ones... other than that there really isn't another option. They had nothing else planned either at that time. I don't know if it has changed since then, but I doubt it.

They really should consider allowing this. I would upgrade my fiance's account to a premium account as soon as it became available.

I would like to also request this too. Bundled family plans really appeal to me. Plus the oversight I could have into my kids' accounts would be great. Please consider a family plan option. In the meantime, I'm going to be placing my whole family on premium this weekend.

Thanks so much for a great product.

This gets my vote. I just bought Premium, and was disappointed to find out that I can only share one folder. This should be increased to at least 5 or 10 folders to accommodate families.

ditto Silmarillion

I am one month into LastPass conversion. So far I am impressed with overall functionality but then I hit this issue. My understanding upfront was this was supposed to support upto 5 family members. I started with just 1 shared folder for my wife. This works great. I have now hit the point where i need to add a shared folder for each child

Does Lastpass think kids should have access to the same shared folder as the parent. Really? If they do not extend this they really should change their marketing. I am sure there is small print somewhere but this borders on wrong.

As i understand the functionality the best way to bring in a child's logins under the LassPass is to do it with a separate shared folder that would give that child separate and discrete permissions / sites.

Only way to understand this is LastPass choosing to limit this on purpose. How does this reconcile with pitching this upfront as supporting a family access with 1 premium account.

How about offer a Premium Family where only difference allows upto 5 shared folders. Charge a few more bucks but do not REQUIRE upgrade to Enterprise .. heck i do not even what to have to understand all the stuff in that much less pay the incremental cost for just access to a few more folders.
