Bypass two-factor authentication for "trusted" locations

Postby Awe So Me » Wed Apr 15, 2009 1:35 pm

I would like the ability to bypass the two-factor authentication (yubikey) from "trusted" locations such as my home computer.

I would still like to be forced to use two-factor authentication from other locations. such as work or coffee shops.

This could be accomplished by allowing me to specify a list of locations (IP addresses) for which to bypass the two-factor authentication.

Another way, maybe not as secure, would be to place a cookie on systems that I tell you are trusted.

I realize I would be sacrificing some security for convenience, as IP addressed can be spoofed, and cookies can be copied from the trusted system.

But at least with the IP address method, a keylogger at an internet cafe of would not know my home IP address.

I agree.

It would be great to have some kind of "Work" and "Home" profiles. Two factor authentification is a bit too much for home but is perfect away from home.
