Some email vendors provide a way to generate email addresses on the spot. For example, if you have firstname.lastname@example.org
, you can use email@example.com
and it will effectively send emails to your inbox, but you can filter based on the recipient address. This is a great way to track how your email is being used and transferred between companies. A good example would be when you sign up for competitions and such.
For the form-fill feature, I thought it would be great if LastPass was able to generate the site-specific email for me. The naive solution would be to + the domain name to the core email address, but of course, more complex solutions are welcome. This saves the time to manually edit the email every time you register for something new.
