Support for Yubikey U2F mode

Postby bhoar » Thu Oct 16, 2014 8:50 pm

Hi,

I recently received a set of the new Yubikey Neo and Yubikey Neo-n items.

Using the Yubikey NEO Manager 0.2.2 (the current Windows version), it indicates that the new keys can have *either* OTP *or* U2F mode active, not both. CCID can be independently enabled, of course.

So, If I want to enable the U2F capability, I lose access to being able to generate OTPs from the Yubikey OTP slots.

Or at least, "currently." Because, as the Change Connection Mode window says - "Note: OTP and U2F modes cannot currently both be active."

Browsing the source code, it's not clear that this restriction will remain in the future.

But in any case: consider supporting U2F. :)

Thanks,
Brendan

Hi, with Chrome beta 39 and the Yubico personalization tool you can get round the current limitations. Here's a guide: https://cognitionsecure.com/u2f-otp-google-lastpass/

Thanks for the info! A similar fix approach has been discussed on the yubico forums, so my initial problem is solved.

But, I'd like to continue to lobby lastpass to consider a password + U2F token method integrated into lastpass for folks who have purchased U2F-only tokens, whether from yubico or others. :)

LastPass support for U2F would be much preferred over getting the Neo to work in Chrome as dual-mode.

Even the cheaper U2F-only keys would then work with LastPass. :D

The only users forced to pay more for the premium Neo would be those needing NFC for tablet/mobile, or those with more complex needs.

Think I will wait a while for more word from LastPass before I decide which one to get.

Count me as another vote for LastPass to support U2F.
