Auto login - Well go on then, don't ask me!

Postby bazzlad » Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:16 am

Liking the tool so far, however two minor things annoy me.

1) The program asks if I'd like to be auto-logged in.
I state yes.

- I visit the site again. It asks me again. Et infinium.

Is there no way for this tool to remember that I want to be logged in automatically?

2) For my liking it pops up a bit much. Every page with a form it pops up. I don't want it to register for me, nor make me a password.

Other than those annoyances (which may be fixable) I'm a fan!

Currently there is no way to denote that you'd like to autologin to a site simply by browsing to it. Instead, it provides the autologin notification bar, and in some cases automatically fills your login information into the form, thus allowing you one-click login in many cases. If you'd like to both browse to the site and autologin in one fell swoop, you can use the entries in the Sites dropdown menu within the plugin.

You can use the "Never For This Site" button on the generate password notification bar to denote that you never want to see it for a specific site again. If you'd like to disable the generate password notification bar entirely, you can uncheck the "Offer to Generate Secure Passwords" preference in the plugin's Preferences window.

Please note that even if you disable it completely, you can still generate passwords using the plugin's Tools -> Generate Secure Passwords menu item.

Cheers Drew,

Shame about the auto login thing - is that a feature we can request or is it beyond the limitations of the program?

And as for the generator, I've turned it off - cheers!

We actually had automatic autologin in our early betas, the issue we ran into is that people didn't know how to turn it off, and got frustrated when they logged out, and LastPass suddenly logged them back in again.

It looks like there's a population out there that would know what to do (or would be willing to go through the menus) to fix it, so we'll think about how to properly present this -- if you have ideas we'd love to hear them.

Thanks,

Joe

This is how I'd go about adding this and other 50/50 features.

Any news on this?
This is still the final piece of the jigsaw for me!
