I am experinecing the same issue with Firefox on Ubuntu Linux. The workaround I use is to login is through the web site: www.lastpass.com.
Add-on works well on Linux with Chrome, Opera and Brave browser (all based on Chromium).

I guess LastPass has just become the safest tool on the net.
It doesn't let anyone in, not even the owner ;)

A good jest (and I know it was jest), but this actually makes LP a big security risk. The amount of less determined users who will just reset their passwords to access their online accounts is problematic. They will both use a much weaker (read: memorable), and increase their vulnerability through reset procedures.

I'm hoping LP make a swift move to fix the problem. I'm already leaning heavily towards going to an open source competitor.

I have the same problem as reported :
I enter my e-mail and password into the firefox add-on.
Upon entering it stays in a continuous loading loop BEFORE asking for my ubikey.

As a test I have entered a false password and that results in an immediate failure.
So I suspect the add-on fails after the password check but before (or during) the check for a 2nd factor authentication.

Details :
Windows 7 Professional Sp1 : Build 7601
Firefox 68.0.2 (64-bit)
Lastpass add-on :

Kinda hope they fix this fast as this is rather annoying.

Work around that works for me :
- Start firefox from scratch.
- Log into the add-on and wait 1 or 2 seconds to the endless loading loop displays.
- In a NEW tab go to lastpass.com
- Log into lastpass.

Login into lastpass before login into the add-on does NOT work on my machine and I will need to close and restart firefox.

Lastpass 4.31.23 on Firefox 68.01 works on another PC (but alas is awaiting to restart to finish update!)

After that Firefox update PC2 was now on same versions of LP and FF and yet was able to continue logging into LP, persisting after closing browser , restart PC etc
So I got to comparing FireFox settings - PC1 had "always use private browsing" enabled.
I disabled private browsing and now LastPass works AOK as normal again
The extension was already set with "allowed in private windows" so possibly there is some glitch with that in new FF

Resolved. In Firefox, three line hamburger upper right, Preferences, Privacy & Security, History, Firefox will "Remember History" Now LastPass is working. I had it set to "Never Remember History"

Can't login using firefox on ubuntu.
I am not using 2 factor authentication.
I enter email and master password.
Hit the login button but absolutely nothing happens, no spinning animation, no nothing. Just sits there.

NOT Resolved the problem is still present but a temporary work around at best :

As reported in the posts above checking firefox for private mode and deselecting that option does allow me to log into the lastpass add-on again normally.

So somethind in how the add-on functions within firefox has changed.
It's upto the lastpass / firefox developers to see if this is a bug or a new security feature of firefox / lastpass.

Would like to know what the outcome of this problem is.

After some trial and error i found two stable solutions thanks to earlier responses.
* Downgrade to Lastpass
* Enable history; setting strict cleanup behavior.

My system:
* Firefox: 38.0.2
* Ubuntu 18.04.3

The issue seems to be caused in my case by having Firefox set to never remember history.
While I am far from happy to not constantly browsing in private mode until a fix arrives it will have
to suffice.
