Registration gone wrong

I turned a coworker on to Lastpass but his registration process errored on when he tried to register using Lastpass Mobile. When he tries to re-register, it says the email is already in use. If her tries to recover his password, the recovery phrase is blank. Since he never got a chance to run Lastpass, the other recovery method wont work. That leaves him few choices - I told him to try and contact Lastpass but I think that wont be fruitful. He could register with another e-mail account. Or he could use another password manager. I can't imagine his experience is a new one. Any suggestions beyond what I mentioned?
