Lastpass Desktop v4.0.0 for macOS

Postby alan612 » Thu Jul 19, 2018 6:04 pm

I open up a search box via the hotkey.
I search for the entry.
I arrow key down to the entry.
I hit command+C to copy the password to my clipboard.
Nothing seems to happen. The search box just sits there as though I haven't done anything.

... further testing shows that I have, in fact, copied the password to the clipboard, but there is no indication of this from the app.

(back in v3.x.x it used to close the search box and return me to whatever app had focus previously)

Also you have to arrow down to an entry in order to copy it. In the previous design the top entry was always selected so you just had to type enough to narrow down to the entry you are looking for and then use the copy shortcut.

Another minor gripe is that there is no longer a way to go to the vault from the search bar. There is an easy workaround which is to just add and remember a shortcut to the vault in LastPass preferences.

Looks like a serious UX regression (both: necessity to press ARROW DOWN and not automatically hiding bar). Looking forward to be fixed.

I found another minor gripe. v4.0.0 seems to have set SHIFT+CMD+G for the "generate password" dialog. This is a default shortcut for finder for "go to folder". It is easy enough to unset the shortcut though.

And there's at least one Serious Security Issue with 4.0.0.

I'm running MacBook Pro with a fingerprint scanner and use fingerprint to Unlock LastPass.

After the update to 4.0.0 when prompted to 'Unlock' I can either:
  • press Enter and use my fingerprint to unlock (by the way, extra Enter press wasn't needed in 3.x.x: one more UX problem) OR
  • I can just press... ESC and it will unlock without fingerprint whatsoever!

So, yes, you can unlock LastPass with ESC :)))

Please open a support ticket with LastPass to report urgent issues.

The forum is mostly user-to-user.

Also, see this thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=306745

And yes, I don't think they really read these forums so maybe a support ticket would help alert whoever is in charge on the dev team that removed these features.
