Current LastPass on upcoming IE9 beta?

Postby beergas » Mon Mar 08, 2010 5:43 pm

Wondering whether latest LastPass (non beta) will be ok under this expected IE9 beta?
Not using PreBuild since have too many mission critical apps & posts about so many bugs & web fails with that work in progress. Left a post there as to its status with IE9 beta.

MS to Reveal Internet Exporer 9 Beta in Coming Days

Many within the tech world are expecting Microsoft to announce a beta version of Internet Explorer 9 at the upcoming MIX 2010 conference. While nothing is yet confirmed by Microsoft, the new version of the popular browser is expected to boast improved support for open web standards.

Microsoft has in the past been criticized for not fully supporting open web standards. Considering that most Microsoft software produced is proprietary and closed source, the push towards open web standards for Internet Explorer is a huge change for the company, and many critics believe it will yield high returns for the software giant.

Open Web Standards Excel Rivals
Open web standards is one of the leading factors in the rise of third-party browsers on the market today, including Firefox, Chrome and Opera. The latter three are all regarded as having a more compliant browsing experience and better support for developers.

The MIX 2010 conference is expected to feature at least two presentations concerning more open web standards. The first is entitled "HTML5 Now: The Future of Web Markup Today" and the other session takes an inside peek at the SVG vector graphics standard. (Source: yahoo.com)

Internet Explorer 9: Better Compatibility
The changes in Internet Explorer 9 are expected to provide a win-win situation for both web developers and the average end-user.

From the perspective of a web developer, better web standards support for browsers makes it all-the-more easier to create web sites that work on any current browser. From the perspective of the average end-user, this means having a wide range of alternative browsers without having to worry about certain sites not working properly under certain browsers. We'll try to support it as soon as it's available.

Thanks JoeS. Just read tonight that the IE9 Platform Preview for developers is available. Runs along with prior IE
installs for web site testing. It is NOT meant to be used as your general browser since some features not enabled like
no Back button, address bar, and such. See the FAQ, and download.
Uncertain whether the first true beta will also run along with IE or replace it.
Need Vista SP2 or Win 7. No XP due to graphic needs. Preview is 32x version for 32x or 64x.
One nice thing besides HTML 5 support is the multi-core support.
Hope you guys can put it thru the ropes!

Gave it a shot -- no addons, no extensions, very very limited at this point --- but impressive performance improvements so we're looking forward to the release...

The IE9 public beta came out today. LastPass works fine so far. I've seen no new issues.

Works fine here with IE9 64 bit edition. However the tool bar takes up its own bar all across the screen. Anyway to hide it or combine it on another toolbar line?

You can always put another toolbar on the same line as it. You could also hide the toolbar and show the command bar and use the button in the command bar.

The online vault on IE9 is problematic, we're looking into it.

I gave it a try. I was unable to even log in to the online vault. However, it worked fine with compatibility mode enabled. So that can be enabled by you through a meta tag as a workaround until it is corrected at the root of the issue.

How do you do that in IE9? The default is to display nothing, and would love to just have an icon somewhere. But disabling the toolbar seems to disable more when I've tried it before.
