Ebay sell page forbidden javascript code inserted by LP

Postby Apareti665 » Tue Aug 21, 2018 11:22 am

Hello,

I'm using Firefox x64 v61.0.2 and LastPass extension v4.16.2.1
i have problems on this two urls with lastpass https://pastebin.com/PuKduGd1

at example when i sell items on ebay and and I fill in the article description.
lastpass inserts forbidden javascript code in the item description field.

here is the inserted javascript code:
https://pastebin.com/wmkfCFsW

i have received an email from ebay again.
"We have identified the offers that need to be changed due to our updated standards.
4 of your offers contain active content such as JavaScript, sendable forms, etc. To provide buyers with a better user experience, active content will no longer be displayed. This means that listings with active content may not be displayed correctly to buyers."

the only fix i know is to disable lastpass extension before i fill any form fields on ebay.

I'm just adding another +1. I am using Firefox and also experiencing this issue.

Is there a better place than this forum to report bugs?

Open up a support ticket with LastPass and let us know what they say.

It's not a bug; LastPass is doing exactly what it's designed to do with forms on websites. You have the option to use Never URLs to prevent LastPass from interacting with those applicable eBay pages.

I have had a dozen exchanges with LastPass support about this bug involving LastPass and Ebay. Not a single LastPass support person has ever stated LastPass is working as designed.

Here is a sample of the nonfunctional Javascript LastPass inappropriately adds to Ebay listings, visible in the HTML window of the listing text box:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nJ9 ... sp=sharing

This stuff does not appear in any other text box or HTML authoring box on any other site, anywhere. I posted a screen shot of the entire page earlier. There is no log-in on this page. Nobody is asking LastPass to fill a form on this page, LastPass injects the code spontaneously.

Tell me again about how LastPass is working as designed.

PS LastPass "Never URL" doesn't work, you'd be excluding log-in to Ebay.

(I wonder if LastPass knows how broken their forum software is?)

+1 for this bug. Its so annoying! I'm having to go through each of my listings now and cleaning out the extra "script" stuff that gets added :( I'm not really sure why its even trying to add the script stuff to a TEXTAREA?

This is definitely a bug.
Adding js to the page to provide functionality is ok, but in this case the script is added as a string to the input field, and the sent to eBay.

Because it's still bugged and Lastpass has not fixed this, I've used the following workaround, which works fine for me.

Go to your Lastpass Vault, then "Account Settings", then go to "Never URLs", then click "Add" at the bottom and put the following:
Type: Never Autologin
URL: csr.ebay.co.uk/cse/list.jsf

The URL above is the listing page (where you edit your listing) for the UK version of Ebay. Use your local ebay URL and it should stop adding the Javascript to the item description.

I too have been fighting this issue anytime I create or edit an eBay listing. Unfortunately the fix listed in the prior post did not work for me, but this did:
Credit to Reddit, as this is where I found the solution that worked for me!

https://www.reddit.com/r/Lastpass/comments/95m27f/lastpass_is_injecting_javascript_code_into_my/

In case the forum software strips out external URLs, here are the steps:

    Open LastPass Vault

    Go to Account Settings

    Click on Never URLS

    Click. 'Add'

Pick 'Never Do Anything' from the Menu

Add bulksell.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll (customize url to fit your region - aka co.uk, .ie)

    Click 'Add'
