Secure removal

Postby cpsully » Thu Apr 25, 2013 3:05 pm

I have tried to search for this topic, I apologize if it's already been discussed and I didn't see it.

I have LastPass installed on my work laptop and I am in a position that I am turning that laptop back to my employer. Is it 'safe' to just uninstall LastPass through control panel and remove the browser add-ons, etc.? Or is there something additional recommended to make sure there is no trace of my LastPass information left behind?

Thank you.

The article on the LastPass helpdesk page doesn't seem to cover this scenario.

I would choose 'Clear local cache' from the Tools menu in the browser's LastPass extension icon.
Then uninstall the program if you want to be 100% sure.

In your user folder in %APPDATA% there will be a LastPass folder present (you can check c:\users\username\roaming and c:\users\username\local and/or LocalLow) which you can delete as well. But after clearing the local cache there shouldn't be anything left.

You can also delete all browser cookies (usually with Ctrl Shift Delete) which will remove any 'trusted' cookies.
