What is the difference in 32bit and 64 bit installers?

Postby Aurock » Fri Aug 19, 2011 9:35 am

I see both a 32 bit and a 64 bit installer offered, but when I install the 64 bit app it still does not appear to be a native 64 bit program installed. (i.e. it installs in \program files (x86) and process monitor still shows the running executable as being a 32bit image.) Is there actually any difference in the two?

Also, the lastpass enterprise install instructions say to use the -j switch and point the install to c:\program files\lastpass -- should that actually be c:\program files (x86)\lastpass if running on x64 windows?

The 64bit installer includes the 64-bit DLL for 64-bit IE. 32-bit IE still uses the same 32-bit DLL. The 64-bit DLL is installed incorrectly in the 32-bit Program Files, but it should be working there if you run 64-bit IE, you should see LastPass available.

Ahh, that makes sense. It is all the same, but adds the files required for 64bit Internet explorer. Thanks!
